Asmara grows up in privileged Bangalore. Her friends are rich and trendy. But her roots are on the other side of the tracks. One day in a moment of poor judgment to please her friends, she disowns her grandmother. There are consequences. Her trip to Canada is cancelled. And she is packed off to live with her grandparents in the atmospheric but less than trendy part of Bangalore. Unable to tell her friends the truth, she pretends she is in Canada. Thus begins Asmara’s remarkable transformation into a sensitive, sensible girl who realizes the value of life and relationships. She makes friends with simple Rukshana and helps her discover her talent. Seemingly from Canada she helps her other two friends resolve serious problems in their lives. Asmara’s desire to just get done with the prison term turns into a deep involvement with the community. From sorting out how water should be collected from the water tanker to transforming how the local beauty parlour does hair..she does it all. She meets and falls in love with Farzaan, a young man with an old head on his shoulders. She joins in the community’s redevelopment fight against an unscrupulous builder. But the biggest fight she wins is against her own pride and ego. However Asmara also learns that growing up means growing pains. And the deepest cut is always to the heart.
